IF YOU DON'T HAVE TIME MAKE TIME!!! A daily approach to training the hip musculature and core

Mike Potenza

There is an enormous amount of research and science that support the idea of strengthening the muscles that surround the pelvis, rotate the torso, and stabilize the torso to prevent injury. I firmly believe that hockey athletes need to address dysfunction and weakness in the adductors, glutes, psoas, low back, and glute medius on a daily basis to combat the hockey skating position.  Now please keep in mind soft tissue work and flexibility exercises are incorporated into our hip and core training program, but the scope of this article will cover specific exercises and the format in which they are organized.
