LATERAL PLYOS: End of summer phases
The end of the summer is a time to blend your off-ice training program with on-ice hockey prep work. As we get closer to training camp our plyometric program specifically becomes challenging in the areas of landing, ground contact time, and explosive output. The following is a list of Lateral Plyometric exercises that we perform later in our training progressions. I highlighted "Lateral Plyos" because of their transfer to skating. Skating preparation is a key component to preparing any hockey player for a pre-season training camp. It must be understood that these are advanced progressions and the jumps highlighted in this video are not to be implemented before more elementary jump progressions are prescribed in your program.
- Full Lateral Plyos 3x6 each side
- 45 Degree Continuous Heiden Jumps 3x5 each side
- Lateral Hurdle to Box Jumps 3x4
