Lateral MiniBand Walk Correction
While doing a Lateral MiniBand Walk, I tell our players to:
1) Drive off their back leg
2) Keep their hips centered between their hips at all times
Both of these "cues" came from concepts I learned at the Boston Hockey Summit two years ago during Nico Berg's presentation on rehabbing hip injuries. In my mind, the goal is to maintain active muscular control over the hip joint throughout the exercise. This is in opposition to using the front foot to push the band out, which tends to lead to the hip hiking and back foot just coming along for the ride (passively abducted). The video is broken into three parts:
1) The undesired hip hike
2) What I consider a quality lateral miniband walk (hips stay level the whole time)
3) A progression from (2), whereby improving the speed of each repetition is emphasized
